Eugene F. Butcher, 75, of Parkersburg, died June 16, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Ellsworth, Pa., a son of the late Clyde and Lydia Shiflett Butcher.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and received a Presidential Citation and three Battle Stars.

He worked at American Viscose, IGA and the Memorial Bridge. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Rawson Butcher; two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Jon Erickson of St. Joseph, Md. and Debbie and David Strothers of Belpre; five stepchildren, Linda Workman and Janet Blosser of Vienna, Sherry Wingrove of Cleveland, Ohio, and Richard Blosser and Russell Blosser; four grandchildren; Josh and Becky Strothers, and Jimmy and Alex Bartley; two great-grandsons; 12 stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Minter Butcher of Belize, Central America and Daniel Butcher of Chapmanville, W.Va. three sisters, Grace Roberts of Elizabeth, Ellen Delancy of Mansfield, Ohio and Carolyn Crowder of Houston, Texas.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Cunningham Butcher, two brothers, Gray and David; and two sisters, Marie and Betty.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, with Rev. Harley Bailey officiating.

Burial in Evergreen North Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
