Evelyn Louise Calvert Collins, 79, of Parsons, departed this life early Thursday morning, Sept. 18, 2003, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

She was born April 20, 1924, at Parsons, the daughter of the late Jean P. Calvert and Carrie Dumire Calvert.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Jean Collins, of Parsons; one granddaughter, Carrie Louise Allender, and husband, Jacky, of Hambleton; two great-grandchildren, Haley Jordan Allender and Wesley Jackson Allender, of Hambleton; one special niece, Jeannette Murphy Crosten, of Parsons; one brother-in-law, Denny Murphy, of Parsons; and several nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Jean Murphy.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1942.

She was a receptionist and billing clerk at the former Tucker County Hospital for over 30 years, was a clerk at the Parsons City Hall and was a parts clerk for the West Virginia Department of Highways until her retirement in 1989.

At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday.

The Rev. Neil Parsons will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at a later date.

The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Evelyn Louise Calvert Collins.
