Florence Adell Brown, 83, a former resident of 528 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 2003, at the Valentine Personal Care Home in Elkins where she had been a patient since August 2001.

She was born July 19, 1919, at Amaso, Mich., the daughter of the late George Milton and Iza Blanche Taylor.

She was married to Felix Brown, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, David Brown of Franklin, Tenn.; one daughter, Carol Higginbotham of Hohenwald, Tenn.; three half brothers, Richard, Leon and Blaine Taylor; and four half sisters, Velma Francisko, Darlene Sones, Faye Nelligah and Ruby Ercolani.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Tim Haddix, Mark Haddix, Dwight Haddix and Beth Wilson, all of Elkins, Suzanne Lovett, Debra Wells, Rhonda Pennington and Matt Brown, all of Tennessee. Sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Haddix; one brother, Wesley Taylor; two sisters, Mariam Davis and Dorothy Bishop; and one grandson, David Brown.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elkins where she served as a deacon.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Elkins Church of the Nazarene.

Pastor Terry Burgess officiated and interment followed in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 503 Lincoln Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241, in memory of Mrs. Brown.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Florence Adell Brown.
