Frances J. Croston, 65, a resident of Route 2, Philippi, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Frank and Lona (Croston) Miner.
She was united in marriage to Harter Croston, who preceded her in death on May 22, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Bessie “Robin” Croston and Susanne Sikorski, both of Philippi; two sons, Harter Lee Croston and Wendell Scott Croston, both of Philippi; one sister, Helen Croston, Philippi; one brother, Winfield Miner, Philippi; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Roselle Newman, Lillian Dalton and Irene Croston; and three brothers, Hoy Miner, Edwin Miner and Lester Miner.
She was a homemaker.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, the service hour. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Troy McCartney and Winfield Miner officiating. Interment will follow in Welch Cemetery.
