FRANK “MIKE” PETRICE, age 79 years, a resident of Coalton, WV departed this life early Thursday morning, February 3, 2011 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV.

He was born Sunday, November 15, 1931 at Mabie, WV a son of the late Nazerine Petrice and Florence Rose Kimble Petrice. On June 15, 1954 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Jean Abbott Markley Petrice, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard Stephen Petrice and wife Connie, Buckhannon; Kenneth Petrice and wife Beverly Joan, Coalton; one daughter, Teresa Ann George, Elkins; one brother, James “Jimmy” Petrice, Beverly; granddaughters, Nancy Marino and husband Jason; Cherish Lavoie; Mary Jane and Peggy Dawn Petrice; grandsons; Charles and Michael Petrice; Richard Petrice Jr., Jonathan and Nicolas Riffle; Christopher George; Tyler George; Louis Lavoie; and Bristol and Rubeus Petrice; step grandchildren, Brandy Burr; Bobbie Miller; Beatrice Simmons; Tucker Burr; Titan Ballinger; Zoey Burr, Tia Miller; Justin Dallas Carr; Mathew Howell and Amy Marsh; great granddaughter, Gwen Riffle; and great grandsons, Noah and Tyler Petrice, Jason and Sean Marino; Dakota; Devin Austin Petrice and Nathan Petrice.

Preceding him in death are one son, David Michael Petrice; one daughter, Peggy Jean Riffle; four brothers, John, Joseph, William and Roy Petrice and five sisters, Effie May Barkley; Rhoda Stanton; Mary Travise; Celia Primavero, and Rose McMasters; one granddaughter; Victoria Jean Petrice; and two great grandchildren, Katelyn Riffle and Delilah Elizabeth Petrice.

He attended the schools of Coalton and was the owner of Frank Petrice Logging for forty years. He was a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, the United Mine Workers of America, the West Virginia Forestry Association, was selected logger of the year in 1992 and was an avid NASCAR fan

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Monday. On Monday, at 7 PM, a wake service will be held with the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs VF officiating. On Tuesday, February 8, 2011 Mr. Petrice will be moved to the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the presider and interment will follow at the Saint Vincent’s Cemetery at Kingsville, WV.
