Franklin Elsworth Wamsley, 78, a resident of Mill Creek passed from this life early Thursday morning at the Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins. He had been in declining health. Frank was born Monday, September 18, 1933 in Randolph County, a son of the late Paul Byron Wamsley and Daisy Myrtle Markley Wamsley. On July 8, 1959 at Monterey, VA, he married the former Dottie Jewel Tackett who preceded him in death on January 27, 2011. Left to cherish Frank’s memory are five sons; John F. Wamsley and companion, Bonnie Smith of Grafton, Frankie P. Wamsley, Rocky L. Wamsley and wife, Tasha, and Michael P. Wamsley, all of Mill Creek, Jeffrey L. Wamsley and companion, Melissa “Missy” Daniels of Valley Bend, two brothers, John Wamsley and wife, Brenda of Clarksburg and Bayard Wamsley and wife, Marcy of Blue Rock, one sister, Pauline Burks and husband, Rev. Jack Burks of Buckeye; seven grandchildren, Frankie, Tara, Kayla, Rocky, Jeffrey, Kasie, and Nathaniel; six great grandchildren, Davion, Violet, Mariyah, Aiden, Brooklyn, and Denisha, several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Preceding Frank in death was one daughter, Peggy Wegman, five sisters, Virginia Arnett, Anna Marie Moss, Carrie Arbogast, Lorraine Burks, and Josephine Wamsley. Frank attended the schools of Randolph County, had served with the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, had worked as a logger for Paul Burks Lumber Company, had driven truck for R. H. Armstrong and Myles Lumber Company, and had worked as a heavy equipment operator for 1A Mine operated by Carter Roag Coal Company. He had also served as a volunteer with the Randolph County EMS for which he had received a Volunteer of the Year Award. Frank enjoyed hunting, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, December 16, 2011, from 5 PM until 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 12 Noon. The Reverend Jack Burks will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
