Franklin James “Hoot” Gibson, 55, a resident of Cassity, passed from this life Monday, April 22, 2013, at his home. He was born Saturday, September 7, 1957 in Braxton County, a son of the late Scott Henry Gibson and Elizabeth Florence Belknap Gibson. Left to cherish Hoot’s memory are his two children, Frank Gibson and companion, Megan Fincham of Mill Creek and Amanda Salisbury and companion Mike Wilson of Beverly, four grandchildren, Breanna Gibson, Trenten Matura, Trenton Marino and Keaton Salisbury, three sisters, Martha McCauley and husband Kenny of Ohio, Kathy Swecker and companion, Charles Lambert of Middle Mountain, Melinda Phillips and husband Jr. of Valley Bend, three brothers, Rick Gibson and wife, Kim of Ohio, Wayne Gibson and wife, Susan of Cassity, and Vince Gibson and wife, Angie of Point Mountain, and several nieces and nephews. Hoot was preceded in death by two brothers, Winford Gibson and Edward Gibson. Hoot attended the schools of Coalton and had worked as a coalminer for Bedford Coal Company and Carter-roag. He loved hunting and fishing, being outdoors, and entertaining his many friends. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 4 until 6PM, the funeral hour. Members of Hoot’s family will officiate and his request for cremation will follow.
