Freda Lucille Lewis Eye 1921-2002 Obituary

Freda Lucille Lewis Eye, 81, a lifelong resident of Tucker County and a resident of the Porterwood community, departed this life at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Jan. 21, 1921, at Pierce, a daughter of the late James H. Lewis and Edna A. Blamble Lewis.

She was married to Glenn D. Eye, who preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1979.

Surviving are two sons, Sherman J. Eye and wife, Linda, Porterwood, and Jerrel S. Eye and wife, Carolyn, Brighton, Colo; five brothers, Roy Lewis and wife, Vilda and Rufus Lewis, all of Horseshoe Run, Elbert “Al” Lewis and Albert “Harold” Lewis, both of Aurora, and Rollin “Ron” Lewis and wife, “Dee,” Lancaster, Pa.; one sister, Alma Brake, Petersburg; four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edison Lewis, Alva Lewis, Cecil Lewis and Webster Lewis; and one sister, Mabel Moran.

She attended the one-room school at Shaffertown. She had worked for the former Hinebaugh’s Restaurant, the former Dorman Mills, the former Parsons Footwear and was a substitute cook for the Tucker County Board of Education. She attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons, and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge 95 of Parsons.

Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Dick Gadd will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Hospice Care Corporation, PO Box 193, Parsons, W.Va. 26287.
