FREDA MARIE FINCHAM KIESS, age 93 years, a resident of Mill Creek, WV departed this life Saturday morning, October 19, 2013 at Colonial Place at Elkins, WV surrounded by her family.

She was born Wednesday September 15, 1920 at Adolph, WV a daughter of the late Harvey William and Effie Pritt Fincham. On June 17, 1940 at Monterey, VA she was married to Levi Clyde “Bud” Kiess, who preceded her in death August 22, 1976. They had celebrated thirty-six years of marriage. Surviving are one son, Melvin Devane Kiess and wife Carla, of Beverly; four daughters, Sandra Kay “Sandy” Lewis and husband Dr. Paul Lewis, of Morgantown; Pamela Faye Rosencrance and husband Grover, of Mill Creek; Candace Rae Shrader and husband Stephen, of Huttonsville; Kathryn Denise Stalnaker and husband Wilson, of Beverly; one sister, Juanita Poe, of Elkins; one daughter in law, Sharon Blosser and husband Jim; sixteen grandchildren, Jeff Kiess; Marsha Payton; Chad Lewis; Dr. Aaron Kiess; Tiffany Kiess; Amber McCloud; Melissa Nicholson; Elisa White; Levi Shrader; Jay Shrader; Courtney Shrader; Dillon Shrader; Camerson Shreve; Thomas Shrader; Brandon Stalnaker; and Katie Stalnaker; and eleven great grandchildren, Trevor; Chrisstopher; Dominic; Blake; Kyndal; Alayna; Kyleigh; Ruthie; Bryce; Brett; and Bryson.

Preceding her in death are one son, William “Chriss” Kiess; four brothers, Jennings Fincham; Richard Fincham; Tom Fincham; and Emory Fincham; five sisters, Annie Shiflett; Sue Donaldson; Hallie Brown; Agnes Fincham; and Hazel Fincham and one grandson, Patrick Shrader.

She was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1941. She had worked for Riedboard Sewing Factory at Elkins, WV; and retired in 1987 from Randolph County Schools as a Title 1 Teachers Aide. She was a member of the Mill Creek Town Council, the Rainelle Chapter # 137 Order of the Eastern Star, and had been a precinct worker for over forty years. She was a member of the Mill Creek Methodist Church, having served as superintendent of the Church, and was a member of the Board of Directors and the Church Choir.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 to 8 PM, Monday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Marshall R. Williams will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale, WV.
