Freddie B. Armentrout, Jr, age 85 years, a resident of Whitmer, WV, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in the Good Samaritan Society in Belington, WV. He was born May 30, 1936 at Osceola, WV a son of the late Fred Armentrout and the late Evelyn Nelson Armentrout. On September 29, 2001 at Whitmer, WV he was married to Molly Hedrick Armentrout who survives at Whitmer. Also surviving are daughters, Kathy Murray and Thomas of North Pole, AK and Michele Finlaw and Thomas of Atwater, OH; sons, Freddie Armentrout and Danielle of Akron, OH, Roy Armentrout and Carmen, Akron, OH Michael Armentrout of Uniontown, OH and a “special son”, Michael Thompson and Anita of Whitmer. Also surviving is a sister, Molly Teter, Hendricks, WV; brothers, Neil Armentrout, Rockwood, TN, Monroe Armentrout, Glen Burnie, MD, Ronnie Armentrout and Joyce of Whitmer, Junior Hedrick and Kathy of Whitmer, Scott Hedrick and Faye of Oakland, MD; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Thompson of Youngstown, OH; grand-daughters, Alexis and Isabella Armentrout, Alicia Kraynok, Emma and Elena Armentrout and Jessica Pennington; grandsons, Austin and Anthony Armentrout and Robby Thompson, several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews including a special nephew, Jeffrey Heltzel of Lowellville, OH, cousins and sisters-in-law, Ruth Thompson, Williamsburg, VA, Sue Senic and Dave of Alpena and Barbara Armentrout of Spotsylvania, VA. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Dolly Cooper and infant Helen Armentrout; brothers, Clinton Nelson, Chris Armentrout and infant David Armentrout; a step-son Steven Thompson; mother-in-law, Argie Hipp and great granddaughter, Emmalee Pennington. Freddie attended the schools of Randolph County and for many years was employed as a Supervisor with Asplundh in Akron, OH prior to his retirement. He attended the Whitmer Church of God and was a man of many talents. If it was broken, he could fix it. His greatest joy in life was his family. The family thanks the Good Samaritan Society of Belington, WV for the wonderful care and the love given to Freddie and his family while a patient there. Friends may call from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Rhodes and Pastor Jim Purnell officiating. Masks and social distancing will be required for those attending the visitation and funeral service. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery near Whitmer. Full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
