Gary Lynn Harman, 59, of Beverly, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his residence. Death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Harman, a son of the late Pershing and Leona Wymer Harman.

He is survived by his wife, Lucinda “Lou” Louk Harman, whom he married Nov. 1973; one stepson, Wesley Summerfield of Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Willard Van and wife, Billie Wymer, of Joppa, Md.; one stepgrandson, Brody Summerfield; several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mr. Harman worked in law enforcement most of his life. First, he worked at Huttonsville Correctional Center, then retired as a city of Elkins police radio dispatcher after 27 years service. He served as secretary-treasurer of Seneca Trail Lodge 104 FOP. He was a member of the Thomas Fairfax Lodge 174 AF & AM, Scottish Rite of Clarksburg and Osiris Temple of Wheeling. He was a member of the Harman Church of the Brethren. He was an avid NASCAR fan.

Friends will be received today at Harman Church of the Brethren from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Randall Brake and the Rev. Frank Long officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
