Genevieve Virginia Oultram Ramsey, 89, of Route 2, the Valley Bend community near Belington, and more recently of Nella’s Nursing Care Facility in Elkins, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in the nursing facility following a brief illness.
Mrs. Ramsey was born June 15, 1912, in McMechen, Marshall County, a daughter of the late Howard T. and Mable M. Hollen Bender.
On May 3, 1930, she married Oakey A. Ramsey, who preceded her in death in 1969.
Surviving are a son, Tommy Ramsey and wife, Donna, Route 2, Belington; a daughter, Janet Booth and husband, Harry, Fort St. John, Canada; seven grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Mrs. Ramsey attended the schools of Barbour County. She was a member of Hilltoppers Homemakers Club. She was retired from the Barbour County Board of Education, where she was employed as a cook.
She was a member of Valley Bend Baptist Church near Belington.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Talbott Funeral Home in Belington.
