George Martin Kniley, age 80 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Davis Medical Center in Elkins. His death was attributed to multiple health conditions. He was born September 4, 1941 at Ridley Park, PA a son of the late Jesse P. Kniley and Effie Basil Kniley. On November 9, 1963 in Elkins, he was married to Delsey Smith who survives. They had celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. Also surviving is one son, Martin Lee Kniley and wife Rebecca; two granddaughters, Marisa Trammell and husband Dylan and Morgan Kniley; one great grandson, Bryce Martin Trammell; brother, Robert H. Kniley and wife Sonnie of Marietta, OH and sister, Roberta M. Valentine of Elkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Keesee; three aunts, Ruth Corbin, Delorise Wilburn, Elizabeth White; three uncles, Jack, Bob and Harry Basil. George was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1959. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving as a SP4, and received a Commendation Medal during the Vietnam War. He retired from Valley Supply Company after thirty-four years. He attended the Rivers of Living Water Church. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Davis Medical Center 2nd floor North II for the excellent care given during his illness.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Sunday, February 20, 2022 at the Pine Grove Cemetery at Czar, WV. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the WV National Guard Honor Guard Program, HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign War. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. Kniley. Family and friends are encouraged to attend a celebration of life which will be held at a later date. This date and time will be published in the Intermountain. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for George Martin Kniley.
