George Winters Wint Campbell 1900-2002 Obituary

George Winters “Wint” Campbell, 102, of Route 1, Box 202, French Creek, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at his home in French Creek.

He was born July 16, 1900, at Pocahontas County, a son of the late Andy and Dicie Dawson Campbell.

He married Anna Werner Campbell, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Campbell, Ellamore, and Clyde Campbell, French Creek; one brother, Carus Campbell, Buckhannon; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jim Campbell and Glenn David Campbell; five brothers, Elmer Campbell, Wilson Campbell, Bill Campbell, Howard Campbell and Sterline Campbell; and two sisters, Eva Hischoff and Mae Anderson.

He was a game warden and also worked in the shipyard in Ambridge, Pa. He was a lifetime member of the Stonecoal Fishing Club and a member of the Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame.

Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
