Gladys G. Harris Beverage, 80, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home, passed away at 1:04 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 28, 1923, in Huttonsville, the daughter of the late Andrew and Addie Mae McGee Harris.

On Oct. 18, 1940, she was married to George C. Beverage, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1986.

She is survived by two sons, George C. “Tom” Beverage and wife, Susie, of Elkins, and Robert L. “Bob” Beverage and wife, Sherry, of Ruckersville, Va.; five daughters, Clara Howell and Carolyn Brown, both of Elkins, Juanita Thornhill and husband, Kenny, of Hampton, Va., Shirley Shreve and husband, Lloyd, of Ruckersville, Va., and Debbie Robey and husband, Dick, of Stanardsville, Va.; and one daughter-in-law, Jolie Smith.

Also surviving are two sisters, Carrie Butcher of Elkins and Ruby Hosey of Beverly; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

One son, Randall Lee Beverage; two sisters, Orpha Mae Sexton and Mary Belle Harris; one brother, Nelson A. Harris; and one granddaughter, Jacqueline L. Thornhill, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Beverage was a homemaker. She was a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the last four years and more recently at Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs.

She was a member of the Goff Street Church of Christ.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Evangelist J.D. Conley officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Gladys G. Harris Beverage.
