Glen Ray Fibber McGee 1937-2020 Obituary

Glen Ray “Fibber” McGee a resident of Huttonsville, passed from this life on Friday, April 3, 2020. He was born at Huttonsville, WV on December 16, 1937, a son of the late Samuel Jared and Lucy Etta Swecker McGee. Also preceding him in death was one sister, Geraldine Gayle McGee Barrick and one nephew, Robert Michael Barrick. Fibber was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School, had worked for Dutchman Bakery driving a delivery truck and later worked at Labcraft until it closed. He also mowed for several of his neighbors. He is survived by his brother, Joseph D. McGee; nieces and nephew, Dianna Barrick Norwood (Rich), Michelle Barrick Leary (Jerry), Christopher Barrick (Colleen) and Robin Barrick Romano (Mark). Also surviving are ten great nieces and nephews and nine great-great nieces and nephews. He had never married. Fibber loved to hunt in his earlier days and enjoyed watching women’s softball and the Mountaineers on the television. He and his brother continued to plant a garden and mow for friends around them. Fibber never knew a stranger, striking up conversations with anyone and always talking about past TVHS baseball, football and basketball teams. It was joked that if you wanted to know something, all you had to do was ask Fibber. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Glen Ray “Fibber” McGee.
