Goldie May Phillips, 73, a former resident of Parsons, and a resident of Berkeley Springs, departed this life early Monday morning, Dec. 16, 2002, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital at Berkeley Springs. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to pneumonia.

She was born Jan. 11, 1929, at Martinsburg, a daughter of the late William C. Hanstrote and Goldie May Stokes.

On Oct. 25, 1963, she was married to the late Edgar Paul Phillips, who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1986.

Surviving are two sons, William David Bohrer, Martinsburg, and Edgar Paul Phillips Jr., Hambleton; three daughters, Rose Sawer and husband, John, Diamond City, Ark., Eva V. Fravel, Martinsburg, and Carolyn Sue Maxwell and husband, Harold, Beckley; two sisters, Mary Rose Klaher, Diane VanMeter and husband, Butch, all of Martinsburg; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie; two brothers, Clemit “Berk” and Henry Junior Hanstrote; and three great-grandchildren.

She attended the school of Berkeley County. She worked for the former AMF Co. and the Fiberglass Co. of Martinsburg and the Parsons Footwear for 14 years.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Allen Dale Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery at Hambleton. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Goldie May Phillips.
