Grace Pauline Lough Wamsley, 78, a former resident of Parsons and more recently a resident of Ocoee, FL, died Oct. 13, at the home of her daughter, Carol Knighton. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Aug. 25, 1923, at Gassaway, a daughter of the late Okey Vernon and Nannie Felicia Whorrell Lough. She was married to Orval Wamsley, who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1980.

Surviving are a son, Orval Wade Wamsley Jr., Lansdale, PA; two step-sons, Charles Edward and Paul Hampton Wamsley of Hendricks; six daughters, Maragaret “Peggy” Ballard, springfield, VA, Carol Knighton, Ocoee, FL, Susie Keller, Culpepper, VA, Judy Filler, Hendersonville, TN, Millie Schofield, Frankfort, KY, Jeanette Fox, Herndon, VA; 22 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, William and Vernon Lough; a sister Gladys Swartz, one granddaughter Kellie Keller.

She attended the schools of Tucker County; was a former employee of Stevens Florist and was a clerk of the Five Rivers Library of Parsons. She was a long time member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist church at Wintergarden, FL.

Private graveside services will be conducted at the Parsons City Cemetery this Friday Oct. 19. A celebration of life will be held at the St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons, Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 am. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Five Rivers Public Library, 301 Walnut Street, Parsons, WV 26287. The Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
