Harold F. “Freck” Cochran, 86, a resident of 106 Hall St., Philippi, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.

He was born March 31, 1917, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Thomas and Jesse Riggs Cochran.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and husband, Jim Kelley, Johnstown, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and wife, Linda Cochran, Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Fay Cochran; and two sisters, Madge Compton and Blanche Bennett.

He retired as superintendent from Badger Coal Co.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army with General Clark at Anzio.

He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge, Laurel Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 410 of Belington and honor unit of Barbour County American Legion Post 44.

He was a Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Speaker Robert “Buck” True officiating.

The Honor Unit of Barbour County American Legion Post 44 will conclude the service with military rites.

Mr. Cochran’s request for cremation will be honored. Wright Funeral Home service.
