Harper G. Hamby, age 82 years, a resident of Montrose, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home.

He was born May 25, 1938 at Parsons, WV a son of the late William Hamby and the late Evelyn Gay Hamby.

He was married to Phyllis Friend Hamby who preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Christine Hamby of Montrose and Patrisha Chandler and husband Alan of Mabie.

One son, Phil Hamby and wife Mary Beth of Elkins; one brother, William Hamby of Tennessee, one sister, Mary Shaffer of Florida, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Hamby attended the schools of Tucker County and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was employed for many years as a truck driver having retired from Amestan Trucking.

Mr. Hamby’s request for cremation has been honored.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

As we continue to follow the mandate of Gov. Jim Justice and the guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control, masks and social distancing will be required for anyone attending the services for Mr. Hamby.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Harper G. Hamby.
