Harry Curtis Tingler, 82, of Radcliff, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.

He was born at Cresaptown, Md., Oct. 7, 1930, the son of the late Harry L. and Hazel L. Tingler. He resided his early years in Glady.

Mr. Tingler dedicated many years serving his country. He served first in the National Guard and then served 27 years in the U. S. Army. He was stationed at several places around the country and the world, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, before retiring at Ft. Knox, Ky., and settling with his family in Radcliff. Ky.

He retired from the military in 1976 as an sergeant first class. He then started and ran his own business for several years. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, hunting and bluegrass music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lois; a sister, Ina Lea Taylor; an infant brother; and his nephew, Jerome Kerns

He is survived by his daughter, Gina Skees of Radcliff, Ky.; a stepson, Russell (Donna) Boyd of Elizabethtown, Ky.; stepdaughter, Kay (Ford) Branch of Princeton, Ky.; five grandchildren, Ford (Kelly) Branch of Princeton, Ky., Ashley (Austin) Branch-mann of Tennessee, Aimee (Jimmy) Boyd Coffey of Elizabethtown, Ky., Selena Boyd Scalzitti of Elizabethtown, Ky., Lindsey Boyd of California; nine great-grandchildren, Tripp, Tallie and Trendon Branch, Giavanni Scalzitti, Gage and Melody Coffey, Olivia and Pennington Mann and Harper LaBrucherie; two sisters, Luella Hart of Elkins and Mary Kerns of Philippi; a brother, Frank Tingler of Glady; two foster brothers, Buddy Tingler of Tulsa, Okla., and Roy Tingler of West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews and family members.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Nelson-edelen-bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff, Ky. Burial will be in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff, Ky., with military honors. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8: p.m. and Thursday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
