HARRY JAMES STOUT Harry James Stout, 91, of Brushy Fork Community, Rt. #1, Bridgeport, died Tuesday evening, December 8, in Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs, following an extended illness. He was born December 14, 1917 on Brushy Fork, a son of the late Lloyd and Ola Myrtle (Radcliff) Stout. On July 8, 1941, he married the former Eva Louise Cain, who survives at Rt. #1, Bridgeport. Also surviving are three daughters, Belva Ewing, Bridgeport, Gladys Ferguson and husband, Curtis and Lovie Jane Young, all of Jane Lew; two sons, Harry J. “Jim” Stout II and wife, Jayne, Clarksburg, Harlen J. “Joe” Stout and fiancé Melissa, Bridgeport, eight grandchildren, John Michael Purkey and wife, Karen, Sandra Kay Cunningham and husband, John, Marcus Scott Purkey and wife, Theresa, James Cline Morris II and wife, Patty, W3 Woodrow Keith Purkey and wife, Donna, Timothy D. Daugherty and wife, Erin, Joseph Michael Stout and wife, Stacy, Lora Lea Hebb and husband, Jason; step-grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Clifton and Dawna Tenny, 21 great grandchildren; and three nephews, H. “Benny” Stout, Warren Stout and Alan Stout. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Howard Benjamin Stout; by one granddaughter, Pamela Gay Morris and by one great granddaughter, Shelby Jade Cunningham. Mr. Stout was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army Air Corp. He was a retired truck driver with over 30 years service. Over his working career, he hauled coal for Brown Fuel, Sawrs Coal Co., Grafton Coal, Van Hammack and Ten A Coal Co. He had also driven truck for the W.Va. Dept. Of Highways. Mr. Stout attended the Mt. Tabor E. U. B. Church. He was an avid hunter and trapper and enjoyed watching baseball and NASCAR on television. He also enjoyed gardening. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, December 12, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Jim Davis will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, from 9:00 A. M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
