Harry Short 1934-2002 Obituary

Harry Short, 68, a former resident of Toms River, N.J., and a resident of Mill Creek since Sept. 14, 1987, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted on Tuesday. He had been in failing health for the past several months and death was attributed to cancer.

He was born June 3, 1934, in New Jersey, a son of the late Calvin and Bertha Finnamore Short.

He was twice married. His first wife, the former Alberta May Applegate preceded him in death. He then married the former Betty Summerfield Tincher, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a close companion of 14 years, Jo Taylor of Mill Creek, with whom he had made his home for the past two and one half months.

He is survived by two daughters, Joann Paugh and husband, John, of Beverly, and Bonnie Sharp and husband, Kenny, of Mill Creek; five sons, Steven Short and Harry Short, both of Virginia, David Short and Adam Short and wife, Melissa, both of North Carolina, and Billie Short, address unknown; four stepchildren, one brother, Rodney Short of Beverly; several grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were one brother, one stepdaughter and one stepson.

He was employed in New Jersey for many years, having worked for Howard Johnson and the Holiday Inn as a prep cook. He also worked in the lumber business and at Grant’s Department Store in maintenance. He was a Methodist by faith.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel Saturday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Curlie Ray Jr., pastor of the Abundant Life Christian Center and the Rev. Neil Parsons, pastor of the St. George Charge will officiate. Interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
