Helen Virginia Kelley Tinskey, 85, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care.

She was a longtime resident of Philippi until the death of her husband, at which time she moved to Texas to reside with her daughter, Linda, for 11 years.

She was born July 23, 1918, in Barbour County, the daughter of the late Wade Hampton Kelley and Frona Dilly Kelley.

She was united in marriage on Feb. 1, 1947, to Joseph “Joe” Tinskey Jr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Foster of Philippi; one son-in-law, Gary Foster of Farwell, Texas; and two grandchildren, Matthew Foster, Sulphur Springs, Texas and Kelley Sanders, Cloudcroft, N.M.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

In earlier years, she worked in the Goodyear Aerospace defense plant during World War II and also the Myers Clinic. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the Philippi United Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible Class.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 219 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 6 p.m. today and until 2 p.m. Friday, the service hour. The Rev. Gary Rapking will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Med-Flight, 200 Texas Way, Ft. Worth, Texas, 76106.
