Herald Clifford Elza, 60, a resident of Ellamore, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

He was born July 2, 1961, at Elkins, a son of Herald P. and Edna Ayers Elza, who survive in Bowden, West Virginia.

He was married to Tonya Teter who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Matthew A. Elza and wife, Autumn, of Kerens, Tommy Lewis of Elkins and Derek Lewis of Morgantown; two sisters, Connie Rowe and husband, Tom, of Montrose, and Julie Teter and husband, Lee, of Elkins; two brothers, Michael Elza and wife, Jessica, of Elkins, and Patrick Elza of Elkins; grandchildren, Mason and Landon Elza, Mia and Blaynne Lewis and granddaughter Ella, who will be arriving soon.

Clifford was a heavy equipment operator for Polino Contracting at the time of his death. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 132.

He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed family gatherings. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt, fish, trapping with his dad and riding his Harley Davidson. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with Pastors Kevin and Connie Gainer officiating. Cremation will follow.

Masks are recommended for those attending the service.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Herald Clifford Elza.
