Herbert Charles “Chuck” Bennett, 58, a resident of Harman, passed from this life on Saturday morning, January 21, 2012 at his home, having spent his final days in Job in the family home surrounded by the best of family and friends, listening to hunting and camping stories. Although he had fought two forms of Leukemia and was winning, his weakened condition allowed for secondary illnesses to take his life. Chuck was born on Monday, May 4, 1953 at Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Herbert J. Bennett and Helen Lee Roy Bennett, who survives at Harman. On November 22, 1973 at Ellicott City, MD, he married the former Victoria Jean “Vicky” Ratliff, who survives at Harman. Others left to cherish Chuck’s memory is a daughter, Danica Cooper and fiancé, Greg White of Harman, a son, Kelly Bennett of Dailey, three grandchildren, Alexis Cooper and Abigail White, both of Harman, and Dominic Bennett of Dailey, two brothers, Jack Bennett of Seneca Rocks and Mark Bennett of Burlington. Chuck had attended the schools of Maryland and West Virginia and was a graduate of Patapsco High School near Baltimore, MD. He had belonged to the Local Union #32, operating Heavy Equipment, had owned and operated the Tree House, had owned and operated Bennett’s Service Station for sixteen years, had worked for Allegheny Woods as a foreman for over sixteen years, and had worked for MIC until becoming disabled. He was a proud member and past master of Thomas Fairfax Masonic Lodge #174. Chuck’s request for cremation was honored.
