Howard Mason “Muscles” Harris, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at his home. He was born September 30, 1931 in Century # 1, WV, a son of the late George W. and Nellie Lee Cunningham Harris. On February 23, 1953 he married Anna Louise McDaniel who preceded him in death on July 30, 1980. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Howard Timothy Harris; seven brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one daughter, T. Renee’ Snyder and husband Lynn of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Robert Harris of Hawaii and Ryan Snyder of Fairmont, WV; three granddaughters, Sloan Ireland and husband Mark of Buckhannon, Kara Black and husband Ricky of Philippi, WV and Shauna Snyder of Clarksville, TN; three great-grandsons; one sister, Mazie Constable and husband Joe of Grafton, WV and a niece, Nancy Kuniya of Grafton. Mr. Harris served in the US Army during the Korea Conflict. He was a coal miner for Beth Energy. He was a member of the following organizations, Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM, Chapter # 18 Order Eastern Star, Chapter # 34 RAM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, a Past President of Upshur County Shrine Club, a member of the Red Fez Patrol of Philippi, VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598 and a member and Past President of Local Union # 4172 District # 31. Friends will be received Friday, June 17, 2011 from 2-5 & 6-9 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Rodger McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. In lieu of flowers contributions, may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com Poling-st.
