Hoy L. Thayer, 90, of Route 2, Box 561, Clarksburg, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.

He was born Jan. 7, 1913, at Queens, a son of the late Worth and Melinda Koon Thayer.

On June 11, 1938, he married Geneva G. Brown Thayer, who survives in Clarksburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Berlin “Bud” Thayer and Jeffrey Thayer, both of Clarksburg; one daughter, Yvonne Carden, Geneva, Ohio; two sisters, Ivy Shipman and twin sister, Hazel Grove, both of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Russell Scott Brown, Bedford, Texas, Douglas Brown, Springfield, Ohio, Steven Brown, Perry, Ohio, Greg Brown, Clarksburg, and Hollis Shea Carden, Geneva, Ohio; two granddaughters, Robin Pool, Ashtabula, Ohio, and Gayle E. Wells, Perry, Ohio; 23 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one great-grandson and one half brother, Oran Talbertt.

He was a coal miner and worked as an electrician in Clarksburg. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fairview Church Cemetery in Ellamore. From 28 Mar 2003.
