Ila Gail Stalnaker Tiller 1928-2017 Obituary

Ila Gail Tiller, 89, of Radford, VA and formerly of Bluefield, WV, died Sunday December 31, 2017 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Radford.

Born February 26, 1928 in Bluefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late Robert B. Stalnaker and Eva Pauley Stalnaker. Mrs. Tiller was a school teacher at Ceres Elementary School for 23 years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton, WV and the Valley Women’s Club in Green Valley, WV. She was also involved with the Mercer County Association of Retired School Employees and the Alpha Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Sorority.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Tiller in 1995; and brother, Ed L. Stalnaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Gail Trail of Murrells Inlet, SC; Jane Gilley of Newport, VA, and Robin McCoy of Norfolk, VA; sister, Zola Gail Farmer of Toledo, OH; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday January 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Mrs. Tiller’s grandson, Scott Trail officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
