Inez C. Mullenax Tallman 1919-2002

Inez C. Mullenax Tallman, 82, of Durbin, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

Mrs. Tallman was born April 4, 1919, at Pocahontas County, and was reared at Pine Grove, a daughter of the late Soloman K. and Daisy M. Mick Mullenax.

She married Harlan “Pistol Pete” Tallman, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie L. Plyler of Bartow; two sons, Roger Tallman of Asheville, N.C., and Edward Tallman of Durbin; two brothers, Edward Mullenax of Arbovale, and Stanley Mullenax of Pocatello, Idaho; four grandchildren, Mark Tracy, Anita Tracy, Melanie Tallman Vaughn and Julie Tallman; and two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Lauren Vaughn.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma White Nelson and Crystal Bell; and four brothers, Gerald, Raymond, Craig and Basil Mullenax.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a homemaker that worked outside the home.

She and her husband, Pete, were recently featured as “Hometown Heroes” in a special supplement to the March 14 edition of The Inter-mountain. Mrs. Tallman and her husband, who preceded her in death just slightly more than one year ago, were among a select few of “Hometown Heroes” from a seven county area.

Friends will be received at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at Bethel United Methodist Church Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Arbovale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church or BFD Fire and Rescue.
