Ira D. Anderson, 61, of Reeves Drive, Wellsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 13, 1940, at Philippi, a son of the late William V. Anderson and Lavada Bennett Anderson.

On April 19, 1962, he married Helen Louise Higgins Anderson, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, David W. Anderson and wife, June, Elkins; two daughters, Mrs. Rusty (Shirley A.) Francis, Wellsburg, and Mrs. Darin (Kimberly Lynn) MacFarland, Wheeling; three brothers, Michael W. Anderson, Fairmont, Charles W. Anderson, Elkins, and Dennis Gifford, North Carolina; two sisters, Sharon Jenkins and Betty Balania, both of Virginia; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory A. Anderson.

Mr. Anderson retired from Windsor Power Plant. He was a member of the American Legion 0184 in Baltimore, Md., and a member of the United Mine Workers 6362. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during peace time.

He was a Protestant by faith

Friends will be received at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Friday, he will be moved to F.E. Runner Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Barbar Memorial Cemetery in Elkins.
