Irene Virginia “Ginger” Harr, 57, a resident of Canaan Valley, departed this life early Monday morning, Dec. 30, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in failing health for the past several years and is now in peace.

She was born June 20, 1945, at Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late Howard Kuney and Lula Fones Kuney Raff.

On Sept. 4, 1970, at Alexandria, Va., she was married to Lloyd Carl Harr, who survives at Canaan Valley.

Also surviving are one son, Theodore McWhinney and wife, Jody, Boyce, Va.; one brother, Charles Raff and wife, Judy, Mechanicsville, Md.; one stepgrandson, Marlin Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Benton; and one half brother, Donald Kuney.

She attended the schools at Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker. She was a talented singer and musician and she performed at various county fairs throughout the area, performing mostly at Canaan Valley Lodge in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Cortland Cemetery at Canaan Valley, in care of Richard Harr, HC 70, Box 131, Davis, W.Va. 26260. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Irene Virginia “Ginger” Harr.
