Isaac Hickman “Ike” Bodkins, 74, a resident of Norton, died late Friday evening, October 21, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Monday, May 3, 1937 at Norton, a son of the late Fred Lester Bodkins and Margaret Elizabeth Bennett Bodkins. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Ferguson Bodkins, his son, I. Randall “Randy” Bodkins of Norton, a sister-in-law, Katherine Bodkins, nieces, Winifred Lambert and family, Juanita Kay Johnson and sons, Janet Shiflett and Husband, nephews, Elwood Sites, II, Richard “Rick” Bodkins and family, and Ronald Bodkins and family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by a baby sister Betty Lou Bodkins, a brother, Richard Neal Bodkins, and a sister, Myrtle Sites Carr. Isaac attended the schools of Randolph County, had served with the United States Army and the United States Army Reserve, and had worked as a carpenter, and as a coal miner with Bethlehem Steel, from which he retired. He was a Methodist by faith. Isaac’s request for cremation was honored. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Mountain State Memorial Gardens. His family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, Inc., 1600 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250.
