 Jackson Alfred “Jack” Wamsley, age 87 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Thursday morning, August 8, 2019 at his home.

He had been in declining health for the past three years.

He was born Sunday, January 3, 1932 at Mill Creek, WV a son of the late Clarence Wade and Ella “Ellie” Currence Wamsley.

On September 27, 1952 at Valley Head, WV he was married to the former Sue Ella Strawder, who preceded him in death November 18, 2001.

They had celebrated forty-nine years of marriage. Surviving is one daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Kirkpatrick and husband Dana of Elkins; one special daughter, Janet Velez of Brunswick, OH; one brother, Donald K. Wamsley and wife Faye of Valley Bend; sisters in law, Freda Lowe and Peggy Strawder; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Merritt Wamsley.

He attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked as a Bus Driver for Randolph County Board of Education, then later worked as a Lead Mechanic and then supervisor.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very close to his nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Monday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM.

The Rev. Brian Seders will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road, Elkins, WV.
