Jackson C. Tabscott -2002 Obituary

Jackson C. Tabscott, Cdr. USNR retired, of Washington Crossing, Pa., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at his home.

Born in Elkins, he had been a resident of Washington Crossing for the past 36 years. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University class of 1942 with a degree in textiles.

While at North Carolina State, Jack played basketball and was captain of the team.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Jack’s professional career spanned over 35 years as a sales representative for the Dupont Company and he retired in 1982.

He was a member of the Thompson Memorial Church of New Hope, Pa., the Trenton Elks Club and the American Legion, the Tin Can Sailors and the USS Mahan Association.

In his spare time Jack enjoyed basketball, golf and tennis, but most of all he loved to be with his family and friends.

The son of the late Col. Ernest E. and Floy Shaffer Tabscott, he is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty H. Hoffman Tabscott; his dear children Jackson C. Tabscott II of Greenleaf, Ore., Andrea L. Gula and her husband, John, of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Maryellen T. O’Connor and her husband, Bernard, of Washington Crossing, Pa.; one sister, Barbara T. Rice, of Elkins; seven dear grandchildren, J. Brian and Brent Gula, Jackson C. Tabscott III and K. Grant and J.L. Tabscott, Matthew B. and Kevin J. O’Connor; and five great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Church, 1680 Aquetong Road, New Hope, Pa, 18938. Interment will be in the Thompson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Thompson Memorial Church at the above address or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home Inc., Richboro and New Britain, Pa.
