JACKSON LYNN GLASPELL 1943-2010 Obituary

JACKSON LYNN GLASPELL, age 64 years, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Friday morning, March 19, 2010 at his home.

He was born Sunday, April 8, 1945 at Clarksburg, a son of the late James Arden Glaspell and Dorothy Lee McClain Glaspell. On February 13, 1972 at Belington, he was married to the former Julia Ann Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two sons; Jack Anthony Glaspell and wife, Sandra, Lumberport and Shawn Christopher Glaspell and wife, Pam, Bridgeport, four grandchildren; Amberly, Ryan, Jonathan, and Jordan, and one great grandson, Seth Levi Jackson.

Jack was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother; James Lee Glaspell.

He attended the grade schools of Harrison County and graduated from Roosevelt-wilson High School at Nutter Fort, had served with the United States Army, had worked for Union Carbide, and worked construction as a heavy equipment operator until becoming disabled in 1988. He enjoyed guns, westerns, was a Harley-davidson enthusiast, was an avid fisherman that often took his beloved shih-tzu, “Bud”, with him, and at home, he enjoyed the constant companionship of his beloved miniature Jack Russell Terrier, “Bones”. He was Catholic by faith.

The family will received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Monday. Jack’s request for cremation will then be honored. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,Memphis, TN 38105.
