Jackson Neil Nesbitt, Sr., age 82, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at his home. He was born March 23, 1931 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Richard Francis and Jeannie Opal Reed Nesbitt. On May 11, 1952 he married Gwendolene Rice who survives. Also surviving is one son, Jackson Nesbitt, Jr. and wife Sonia of Colorado Springs, CO; three daughters, Arlinda Richardson and husband Paul of Colorado Springs, Teresa Hopkins-hawkins and husband Douglas of Aurora, CO and Regina Nesbitt-bunnell and husband Michael Bunnell of Colorado Springs; six grandsons, Michael Richardson, Alan Rodriguez, Brian Spitzley, Gandalf and Neale Bunnell, all of Colorado Springs and Christopher Lucas of Topeka, KS; three granddaughters, Christina Calhoun and Michelle Nesbitt both of Colorado Springs and, Sherina Jackson of Denver, CO; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maryann Nesbitt-tricase and Charlotte Schweitzer and husband Ron all of Greenville, SC and one sister in law, Charlotte Nesbitt of Garden Grove, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jacquelynn Renae Richardson; three brothers, James Richard, William Lee and Joseph Glenville Nesbitt and one sister in law, Joyce Nesbitt. Mr. Nesbitt was an Airplane Electrician for the US Air Force. He was a life member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, a member of the Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and a member of the Historical Society. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after 20 years of service. He was also a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Nesbitt was instrumental in the making of the Veterans Memorial at the Buckhannon Heavner Cemetery. Friends will be received Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Dan Nesbitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the graveside.
