James E. “Jimmy” Propst, age 59 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Thursday evening, November 4, 2021, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital at Oakland, Pennsylvania.
He was born Monday, July 30, 1962, at Parsons, WV, a son of the late James Norman “Jim” Propst and Dolores J. Cunningham Propst, who survives at Parsons, WV. On April 21, 1990, at the Baptist Church in Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Liesa D. Hebb, who survives at Parsons, WV. They had celebrated thirty-one years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Ezekiel J. “Zeke” Propst of Barbour Co.; two sisters, Vickie Lynn Propst and companion Leo Fedder of Elkins, WV and Nicole Leigh Propst-Lipscomb and husband Daniel “Pete” of Parsons; one granddaughter, Rocker Lennon Rose Propst; and step-grandchildren; Regan and Robby; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1980, and a graduate of the Fred Eberly Technical Center as a certified Welder and Electrician. He was a former employee of Lambert Chevrolet working in auto body and repair. He followed in his Dad’s footsteps by working and operating their family business, Jim’s All Star, for over forty years. He was a member of the Hambleton United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee, was a member of the Tucker County Cert Team, and past member of the Parsons Volunteer Fire Dept, where he served for eight years. He was involved in Boys Scouts and community baseball and enjoyed racing street stock at the Elkins Speedway and Demolition Derbies. He enjoyed collecting pocketknives and zippo lighters, gardening, canning and preserving food with his wife, woodworking, spending time in the garage, attending Black Bear baseball games, and in the winter months, he enjoyed watching and feeding the deer. He loved time spent with his granddaughter, Rocker (Rocket as he called her) and his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 4 PM to 6 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6 PM. Pastor Susie Metzner will officiate. Private family interment will take place at a later date at the Moore Community Cemetery at Moore. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Tucker Co. Animal Shelter or the Hambleton United Methodist Church.
