JAMES JACKSON CANFIELD 1931-2010 Obituary

JAMES JACKSON CANFIELD, age 78 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, July 28, 2010 at the Acute Care Center at Philippi. He had been in declining health for the past two years and was critical for the past three months.

He was born September 18, 1931 at Auviltown, WV a son of the late Ernest Canfield and Pleasant Metz Canfield. On October 27, 1978, he was married to the former Alvina Brown, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Jim R. Canfield and wife Aimee of Parsons; one brother Clifford Canfield and wife Judy of Hambleton; one granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Nichols of San Diego, CA; one grandson, Dylan Canfield of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Robert Canfield and June Canfield; and one sister, Helen Canfield.

He attended the schools of Tucker County. He worked twenty five years and retired from Fayette Tubular at Fayette, OH. He was a member of the Sycamore Grove Church. He had a big heart for the Lord and always enjoyed witnessing to people. He loved to read his bible and listening to bluegrass gospel music.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:30 AM. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
