James “Jim” William Whitacre, 60, a resident of Youngstown, Ohio and more recently of Whitmer, WV entered into eternal rest Tuesday March 30, 2010. He was born Sunday April 24, 1949 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late David Woodrow and Caroline Wilkes Whitacre. Jim had a great love of motorcycles. He loved to ride motorcycles as often as his health permitted. He spent many days in the woods hunting. He enjoyed fishing very much and spent several hours fishing on Lake Erie. Jim was employed as a tow truck operator and truck driver as well as a mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister : Mildred Whitacre; three brothers: Carl and Eddie Julius and David “Sonny’ Whitacre and one brother-in-law: Don Platt. Left to cherish Jim’s memories are one son: Jerry Whitacre of Elkins, WV; three daughters: Caroline Whitacre and companion Robert Cain, Jr. of Elkins, WV, Sherry Teter and husband Jeff of Whitmer, WV with whom he resided and Jennifer Judy and husband Mike of Whitmer, WV; seven grandchildren: Brooke Whitacre of Whitmer,WV Skyllar Noel of VA, Faith Gordon of Whitmer, WV Kevin Gray of Elkins, WV, Jacob Teter of Whitmer, WV Alie and Bobby Cain both of Elkins, WV; two sisters: Edie Levy and husband Roy of TX and Barbara Platt of OH; one brother: George Whitacre and wife Peggy of Whitacre of OH; one sister-in-law: Gloria Whitacre of OH and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 10th, 2010 at The Whitmer United Methodist Church located in Whitmer, WV. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 10th, 2010 at the church with the Rev. Earl Bible officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Whitmer, WV.
