James Mike Dolly, age 90 years, a resident of Whitmer passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Mansfield Place in Philippi WV.

He was born October 12, 1930 at Whitmer a son of Sunday and Pearl Humphrey Dolly.

He was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1948 and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Corporal.

He then served in the Marine Corps Reserve for six years. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum at Ravenswood, WV for thirty years prior to his retirement.

Mike was a volunteer for ten years with the Whitmer Water Association Board and worked diligently to install the new water system serving Whitmer.

He loved working in the garden, helping John with woodworking and taking care of his family.

Surviving are his niece, Susan Tyre Pennington and husband John of Whitmer, WV and nephews, Alex M. Tyre, Jr. and wife Jean of Athens, Oh, Samuel Tyre and wife Jenny of Parkersburg WV and Tom Long of Whitmer, WV.

Great nieces and nephews surviving include, Sarah Beth Howes and Jason, Buckhannon WV, Beth Tyre Dajnowicz and Matt, Collierville, TN, Andrew Tyre and Julie, Westerville Oh, Andrew Singer of Parkersburg, WV and Katie Tyre Nestor and Andy of Parkersburg WV; two Brothers, Eugene Dolly and Betty, Belington WV and Jack Dolly and Margaret, Ripley, WV and numerous other family members.

Also preceding him in death were five brothers, John, Clifford, Floyd, Billie and Leon and five sisters, Dorothy Sites, Vivian Tyre, Naomi Warner, Ruby Dolly and Ruth Long.

Mr. Dolly’s request for cremation has been honored.

Due to the Pandemic, a private committal service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davis House, PO Box 1188, Elkins, WV, 26241 in memory of Mike.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for James Mike Dolly.
