James O Given 1928-2010 Obituary

James O. Given, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born July 1, 1928 in Braxton County, WV, a son of the late Thomas and Mary Dobbins Given. On April 25, 1948 he married Naomi Miller who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gary Given and wife Sue and Johnny Given and wife Edith all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Mary Given of Buckhannon; three grandsons, John Daniel Given and wife Jennifer, James David Given and wife Kelly and Colby Shane Given all of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Tonya Grace Eve and husband Rick of Clarksburg, WV, Cheyenne Given and Abigail Suzanne Given both of Buckhannon; three great-grandsons, Matthew Schuyler Eve of Clarksburg, Hunter James Given and Curtis Jack Given both of Buckhannon; four great-granddaughters, Savannah Brooke Eve of Clarksburg, Lindsay Danielle Given, Jasmin Denise Given and Taylor Brooke Given all of Buckhannon and one sister, Maxine Rose of Birch River, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Owen Given; one daughter, Levinda Jo Given; four brothers, Ralph, Wayne, John and Jack Given and three sisters, Ocie Coplin, Allie Rose and Ethel Young. Mr. Given was a coal miner for Consol Energy. He was a member and a Deacon at the Faith Baptist Church. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers Local # 1501, Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM and Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663. He served in the US Army. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
