James H. Owens, 75, of Freedom, OH, died July 25, at home following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1925, in St. George, he was the son of JohnR. And Lela P. King Owens.

Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Showalter; sons, James Owens of Kent, Anthony Owens of Ravenna, Timothy (and Joan) Schaer of Ravenna and Daniel (and Denise) Schaer of Ravenna; four grandchildren; borthers, Roy and Melvin of Parsons, and David and Bruce of St. Geroge, and sisters, Geraldine of Greenville, OH, Gertrude of Kettering, OH, Susan of New Mexico, Jean of Parsons, and Norma of Kingwood.

His first wife, Martha, brothers, Junior and Edmund, and sister, Laura “Todd,” preceded him in death.

Mr. Owens was a 50 – year resident of Freedom. He had been employed as parts manager of Paul Ford-John Deere in Garrettsville.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Windham.

He served in the US Army during World War II as a member of the 14th Armored Division.

Friends were received at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville where services were held with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Interment followed in Park Cemetery, Garrettsville.
