Master Sergeant James Robert Pritt, 81, a resident of Philippi, passed from this life, Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center in Wheeling. James was born Tuesday, September 6, 1932 in Mill Creek, a son of the late Warwick Norman Pritt and Mary Collins Pritt. On September 10, 1951, he was married to Dorcas Madeline Currence Pritt who preceded him in death on March 7, 1987. He was later married to Edna Moats on February 14, 1989 who preceded him in death on December 8, 2012. Left to cherish his memory are his eight children, Danny Robert Pritt and wife, Laura, Dennis Randall “Randy” Pritt and wife, Marylou, Rickie Douglas Pritt and wife, Brenda, Robbie Dee Pritt and companion, Kim Tredy, Connie Elaine Dominquez, Timmy Norman Pritt, all of Wheeling, Dirk Leon Pritt and wife, Jackie of Philippi, and Nancy Lane Pritt and companion, Allen McAdoo of Weirton, twenty-two grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. James was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one infant son, Jimmy Dale Pritt, four brothers, Jess Pritt, Ray Pritt, Ross “Buck” Pritt, and Franklin Pritt, and six sisters, Mae Cosner, Laurie Shifflett, Emmajean Kisner, Josephine Bennett, Sylvia Currence, and Wanda Howell, and a son-in-law, Dave Leon Dominquez. James attended the schools of Randolph county, had served with the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked as a coal miner for Valley Camp Coal Company in both Wheeling and Charleston before retiring in 1987. He loved to hunt and garden and was a member of the V.F.W. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday from 4PM until 7PM. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1PM. Interment will follow at the Jerusalem Cemetery on the Adolph Road where members of H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
