Jamie Lynn Bodkins 1972-2010 Obituary

Jamie Lynn Bodkins, 37, of Dailey, WV entered into eternal rest early morning Monday August 23, 2010 at Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Elkins, WV surrounded by family.Jamie fought a long and courageous battle with cancer for 9 years and 8 months. She was born Saturday October 7, 1972 in Elkins, WV, a daughter of James Harrison Knox of Elkins, WV and Virginia Louise Spiker of Dailey, WV. She attended the schools of Randolph County, WV. She enjoyed camping and traveling. She loved to read. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church on Scott’s Lake Road in Beverly, WV. While in good health Jamie was very active with Therapeutic Foster Care located on Presley Ridge in Lost Creek, WV and Appalachian Mental Health located in Elkins, WV. On Friday May 14, 1993 in Elkins, WV she married her childhood sweetheart and soul mate: Ricci Ersel Bodkins who survives in Dailey, WV. They became the proud parents of a baby girl on Thursday June 24, 1993 and named her Traci Renee Bodkins, who survives at home. Jamie was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: James Spiker and Geneva Shiflett and paternal grandparents: Tom and Carrie Knox. In addition to her husband Ricci, daughter Traci and parents James and Virginia, she was also a mother to Melissa Sue Lytle of Grafton, WV; grandmother to Christopher Lytle and Leeland Vandergrift of Grafton, WV whom she loved and adored; one sister: Jessica Knox and companion JR Shiflett of Beverly, WV; one brother: T. J. Pingley of Beverly, WV; three nieces: Tori and Tierra Knox of Beverly, WV and Sara George of Norton, WV and four nephews : Isaiah Shiflett of Beverly, WV, Jordan and Corey Bodkins of Philippi, WV and Stephen Elza of Beverly, WV; mother-in-law: Carol Bodkins of Philippi, WV; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Marstiller and companion Andy Atkinson of Beverly, WV and Sandy Hancock and husband Chris of Randleman, NC; two brothers-in-law: George Bodkins and wife Melissa of Philippi, WV and James Bodkins of Elkins, WV and many extended family and friends. At Jamie’s request her body will be cremated. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Jamie on Saturday August 28, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Pastor Leon Brown officiating. Jamie was a true inspiration to all who were privileged to know her. She will always be loved and in the hearts of all who knew her. She will truly be missed.
