Janet Sue Plum Simmons, 55, beloved wife of Charles E. “Chuck” Simmons, departed this life Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in the North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

She was born May 28, 1947, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Walter R. “Truck” Plum and Betty Sue Ball Plum.

On Nov. 12, 1966, she and Chuck were united in marriage in Parsons, and resided in Elkins until 1998, before moving to Kansas City.

She worked many years with her family in the operation of L&L Bargain Room in Elkins.

She leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and wife, Tami, Scott and wife, Shirley, and Robert “Bob” and wife, Audrey; eight precious grandchildren, Ashely, Shannon, Michael, Travis, Brittany, Brandon, Elizabeth Janet and Gerry Charles; one sister, Robin Plum of Parsons. She also will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Sheila Rice, Brenda Pritt, Gary, Loren and Kevin Wiseman, all of Elkins.

She was preceded in deathy by her parents, one brother, William R. “Tucky Bill”; one sister, Marsha Rosier; and her mother and father-in-law, Loren and Mary Wiseman.

She graduated from Parsons High School with the class of 1964. She was an avid outdoors person who also loved horseback riding and photography. She enjoyed working as a candy striper at Tucker County Hospital as a young girl and a homemaker as an adult

Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Janet Sue Plum Simmons.
