Janie K. Phillips, age 92 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2011 in the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. She was born November 22, 1918 a daughter of the late Laban W. and Floda Johnson White. She was married to Okey D. Phillips who preceded her in death on September 29, 1990. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death was one daughter, Jo Anne Phillips, five brothers, Richard, Warren, Junior, Lawrence and Donald White and two sisters, Tressie and Alice.
Janie was a homemaker and attended the Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Senior Center’s Melody Chorus and enjoyed playing bingo.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 4th from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Gary L. Kendall, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Janie K. Phillips.
