Jason Denver Summerfield, age 23, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away suddenly on July 24 due to a motorcycle accident. He was doing what he loved best, riding his motorcycle. He was born March 3, 1988 in Olney, Maryland. Jason graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Colorado with a degree in computer engineering. He worked full time with his Father, John Summerfield at Lockheed Martin IS&GS Defense while also starting his Masters in Engineering this fall at UCCS, carrying a full academic load. He was a nine year member of the Monument Colorado Police, Explorers and was acting in the capacity of “Advisor” at the time of his death. He was a founding member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Mu Alpha Chapter at UCCS. Jason enjoyed living life to the fullest, with his friends and family, whether camping with friends, four wheeling, paintballing, or setting off “self engineered” reworks. He was always ready with a quick smile or perhaps a practical joke or two. His gregarious, charming and generous nature won him many friends of all ages. He enjoyed challenges of all kinds and died as he lived, pushing the limits. On August 10, 2011 the Monument, Colorado Police Department afforded Jason an impressive Memorial Service, treating him as a “Fallen Officer”. He is survived by his parents, John and Paige Summerfield of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one sister, Samantha Summerfield of Colorado Springs, paternal grandparents, Ervin and Darlene Summerfield of Dayton, MD (formerly of Blue Rock and Elkins, West Virginia), maternal grandparents, Elwood and Arta Berger of West Friendship, MD, uncles, Mark Summerfield of Jefferson, MD, Rodney Berger of Florida, David Berger of Virginia, and Aunt Marily Berger of South Carolina, great aunts, Charlotte Zimmerman of Valley Bend, Nancy Pierce of Benedict, MD, and Thelma Haupt of Annapolis, MD, great uncles, Junior and Rev. Ralph Summerfield of Blue Rock, and Jim Phares of Valley Bend, and his rescue dog, Bresa. A memorial service will be held September 3, 2011 at 10am at the Blue Rock Church with his Great Uncle, Rev.
