Jean Wimer Marshall 1932-2002 Obituary

Jean Wimer Marshall, 70, a native of Elkins, a former resident of Charleston, and more recently a resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa., departed this life Saturday, April 27, 2002. She had been in declining health for the past few years.

She was born March 18, 1932, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Frank C. Wimer and Eleanor Strieby Wimer.

During August of 1954, at Elkins, she was married to Robert Earl “Bob” Marshall, who preceded her in death on April 14, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, Frank Allison Marshall, Camp Hill, Pa., and Robert Wimer Marshall, Summitt Point; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Smith Marshall, Summitt Point, Heather Anne Marshall and Wesley Earl Marshall, both of Camp Hill.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank S. Wimer.

Mrs. Marshall was a graduate of Elkins High School, where she was salutatorian of her graduating class and a majorette. She was a graduate of West Virginia University majoring in home economics and English.

She was a homemaker. She had worked for Duquense Power and Light and was an English Teacher substituting in Pittsburgh, Pa., area schools and the Kanawha County Schools of West Virginia. She was former president of Delta Gamma Sorority, past president of the Forest Ridge Garden Club, a former member of the Tri-hi-Y, and belonged to antique, book, bridge and garden clubs. She was a former princess with the Mountain State Forest Festival and very active with the Community Music Association at Charleston. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Charleston, where she had served as the church librarian, and was active with the Stephen Ministries, a Christian Lay Ministry Series.

Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Stephen Ministries, in care of Doug Heidt, Associate Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, 16 Broad St., Charleston, W.Va. 25301.
