JEARL SITES, age 85 years, a resident of Harman, WV departed this life Saturday afternoon November 26, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

He was born Thursday, February 25, 1926 at Whitmer, a son of the late Nola and Fred Sites Sr. On May 21, 1960 in Oakland, MD he was married to Nora Reed Blackburn Sites, whom he has cared for during the past ten years, who survives. Also surviving are on brother, Harold Sites and wife Dorothy, NC; two step daughters, Doris Snyder and husband Benny, of Wymer; JoAnn Cooper and husband Gary, of Harman; one step-son, Mason Blackburn and wife Bonnie, Youngstown, OH; one step-brother, George Nelson and wife Melanie, MD; one sister-in-law, Joy Lou, of Jane Lew; eight grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Fred Sites Jr.

Jearl served in the United States Navy during World War II . He was retired from Allied Chemicals, in Youngstown, OH. After his retirement, he worked many construction jobs. His last job was working at Canaan Valley Resorts. Jearl was a loving husband. He also loved reading, gardening, talking about history, hunting and baseball.

The family will receive friends at the United Pentecostal Church at Whitmer from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the church, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Claude Chaney will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer, WV where the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29 American Legion will present the American flag. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the United Pentecostal Church, Whitmer, WV 26296.
